Power, policy & possibilities: The political landscape of solar energy in Finland and Europe

As solar power rises to the top of Europe’s energy agenda, the policies shaping its future are more crucial than ever. At Solar Power Finland 2025, the opening session sets into the spotlight the political frameworks and strategic directions driving solar development both at Finland and across the EU. With two new speaker announcements, this session gathers top-level perspectives from national government, and Finland’s and Europe’s foremost advocacy voices to explore one of the most critical questions of the moment: How do we shape the political will to unlock solar’s full potential?

Setting the political tone: Keynote from Minister Sari Multala

We have the honour to have the Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala to open history’s first Solar Power Finland seminar. In her keynote, Minister Multala will outline the Finnish government’s climate and energy strategy, with a special focus on how policy is enabling and accelerating the growth of solar power. Her insights will provide a high-level overview of the political mechanisms at play and the national commitment to a clean energy future.

Finland’s momentum in solar: Klaara Tapper, Renewables Finland

Finland’s solar sector is gaining altitude and Klaara Tapper from Renewables Finland will share how and why. In her presentation “Finnish Solar Power – Heading High”, Klaara will explore the market fundamentals, investment drivers, and emerging regulatory frameworks that are fueling Finland’s solar momentum. Expect a deep dive into current challenges, upcoming legislation, and what’s needed to keep Finland on a strong solar trajectory.

A European outlook: Catarina Augusto, SolarPower Europe

We have also the pleasure to announce that Catarina Augusto from SolarPower Europe will step onto the stage by zooming out to the EU-wide picture of solar power development. With a background leading grid and flexibility initiatives at the European level, Catarina’s talk, “European Perspectives on Solar PV,” will uncover the key regulatory shifts, grid integration challenges, and cross-border priorities that will define solar’s path forward.
